TECHNICAL SUPPORT: FAQs

AcQuis Product FAQ

FAQ 1:When I start AcQuis it opens a window called "image 1" then the PC seems to hang, what's happening?

When AcQuis starts video input immediately goes live and AcQuis tries to display an image from the framegrabber. If for some reason AcQuis is configured incorrectly, say the wrong camera was selected, it will not be able to read the image data from the framegrabber. To cure this problem turn video input off by clicking on the video on/off button on the toolbar. After a short wait a message box will pop up saying "Capture failed: timed out waiting for capture to finish". Press the OK button and when the message box disappears click on the camera selection button on the toolbar and select the correct framegrabber/camera combination from the following dialog boxes.

FAQ 2:I've selected the correct framegrabber/camera configuration but AcQuis still hangs

If you are using a Prysm framegrabber with AcQuis it requires a video signal in order to function. Without the video signal the Prysm will be stuck in a "waiting" state and consequently AcQuis will also be stuck. If this oocurs check all the video input connections to make sure the camera is correctly connected to the framegrabber and make sure the camera is working correctly.

FAQ 3:What are the minimum requirements for computers used with Syncroscopy systems?

If you are buying a new system then the following PC specifications are suitable. If you are upgrading or replacing a PC on an existing system please contact Syncroscopy

Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP2 (32 bit version only)

Processor: Intel Processor (Pentium 4, Pentium D, Celeron D, Pentium M, Core, Core 2 or Xeon) (we recommend 2GHz or higher Core 2 processor) Memory: we recommended using 2GB or more OpenGL compatible graphics card with a resolution of at least 1024 x 768 with true colour (1280 x 1024 resolution preferred) Hi-Speed (480 Mbps) USB 2.0 port available* (note: must not be shared with a Lo-Speed device)

If you are using a laptop you may need a powered PCMCIA (Cardbus) Hi-Speed USB 2.0 hub for connection to the camera. * You need to check that the system has at least one available high-speed USB 2.0 port Note that there are three possible port speeds with USB 2.0: Lo-Speed (1.5Mbps) , Full-Speed (12Mbps) and Hi-Speed (up to 480Mbps).

Not all USB 2.0 compatible systems implement the Hi-Speed mode.
