PRODUCTS: Montage Explorer
Summary
Montage Explorer is the ultimate solution to the microscopist’s eternal problem of small viewable area and limited depth of focus. Building on the capabilities of Auto-Montage, SYNCROSCOPY has developed and patented a digital imaging system which allows microscope users to select a high magnification and move around large specimens, building up a high magnification composite image of the specimen under investigation – in real time.
In manual mode the user is in complete control, using the normal manual microscope controls to move around the specimen. At the same time Montage Explorer analyzes, at extremely high speed, the incoming image data to automatically calculate the distance and direction moved. This it does using patented correlation algorithms creating a remarkable, ever extending and fully detailed, stitched image as you explore your sample.
Furthermore, if your specimen contains large variations in height, by moving the specimen through the entire range of focus, Montage Explorer will extract all the in-focus elements and combine them into a fully focused composite image.
If you wish to use a motorized XY stage and motorized focus with Montage Explorer, this too is made simple with the use of a unique Auto-Calibration function. Montage Explorer automatically uses its correlation algorithms at start-up to measure the precise alignment between camera and sample, to ensure perfect ‘stitching’ together of images.
This is a very significant advantage over other ‘mechanical’ stitching programs that depend on perfect rotational alignment of camera & stage and perfect positioning of adjacent fields of view.
For each magnification, the number of steps per pixel is automatically calculated in a few seconds. This means there is effectively no manual set-up procedure required, saving time as well as increasing accuracy.
